MUSTANG SOCCER
est. 1972
History
The Mustang Soccer League was established and founded in 1972. The purpose was then, and remains the same today, to provide positive and safe soccer opportunities to children ages four through 19. We have grown significantly since 1972 and now provide multiple levels of programs and activities that promote the health and well-being of all players, parents, coaches, and referees, creating lifelong habits for all members of the community. Mustang Soccer currently serves the Tri-Valley area, including citizens of the Town of Danville, Diablo, Alamo, the Blackhawk area, and a small southern slice of Walnut Creek, consistent with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District boundaries.

Safety Plan
Mustang Soccer is dedicated to the safety and well being of all our members. To be able to provide a safe and successful soccer season, we have aligned the Mustang Soccer COVID-19 Safety Plan to match the guidance provided from Contra Costa Health Services, the California Department of Public Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, US Soccer, and the Elite Clubs National League. We believe our plan and the best practices we have adopted will drastically reduce, not guarantee, member exposure to COVID-19.

Mustang Soccer takes great pride in the quality of our adult leadership. Being a volunteer in Mustang Soccer is a privilege, not a right. The quality of the program and the safety of our youth members call for high-quality adult leaders.
Mustang Soccer screens coaches and adult volunteers. Adult applications request background information and will be checked by the league before accepting an applicant for leadership. While no current screening techniques exist that can identify every potential child abuser, screening can reduce the risk by increasing what we know about an applicant for a leadership position.
Barriers to Abuse Within Mustang Soccer
Mustang Soccer has adopted the following policies to provide additional security for our members. These policies are primarily for the protection of our youth members; however, they also serve to protect our adult leaders from false accusations of abuse.
Two-deep leadership. Two registered adult leaders or one registered adult leaders and a parent of a participant, one of whom must be 21 years of age or older, are required on all activities.
No one-on-one contact. One-on-one contact between adults and youth members is not permitted. In situations that require personal conferences, such as a Coach’s conference, the meeting is to be conducted in view of other adults and youths.
Respect of privacy. Adult leaders must respect the privacy of youth members in situations such as changing clothes, and intrude only to the extent that health and safety require. Adults must protect their own privacy in similar situations.
Separate accommodations. When on the road, no youth is permitted to sleep in the accommodations of a Mustang League registered adult leader, other than that of their own relative or guardian.
Proper preparation for physically challenging activities. Activities with elements of risk should never be undertaken without proper preparation, equipment, clothing, supervision, and safety measures.
Transparency. All aspects of the Mustang Soccer program are open to observation by parents and leaders.
Appropriate attire. Proper clothing and equipment for activities is required.
Constructive discipline. Discipline used in Mustang Soccer should be constructive and reflect Mustang Soccer ’s values. Corporal punishment is never permitted. See disciplinary procedures for specific details.
Hazing prohibited. Physical hazing and initiations are prohibited and may not be included as part of any Mustang Soccer activity.

Attendance
Punctuality
Preparedness
Flow of Game, Stoppage, Subbing Opportunities
Roster Size
Discipline Issues
Health
*Throughout the course of the season, a player’s playing time may be affected by any one of the above reasons, and the minimums stated below may not be met.
REC/REC PLUS: 50% of each game
COMP SELECT: 50% of each game
ELITE I & ELITE II
U8-U12: 50% of game time over the course of the season
U13-U19: 33% of game time over the course of the season
ECNL & PRE-ECNL
33% balanced over the course of the season based on the roster size and the no re-entry rule that exists in the ECNL
*The above guidelines are for regular season league games. Exceptions can be made for tournaments including the NorCal State Cup.

Being a member of Mustang Soccer is a great privilege. Athletes playing and competing for Mustang Soccer are held in the highest regard and are seen as role models in the community. All members have the responsibility to portray your team, your club, and yourselves positively and respectably at all times. Sometimes this means doing things that are an inconvenience to you but benefit the whole team and/or club.
Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and other social media sites have increased in popularity globally and are used by the majority of the population. Many Mustang Soccer members use at least one form or more.
Members should be aware that media, faculty, staff, future/current employers, NCAA officials, collegiate coaches, and third parties can easily access digital media profiles and view all personal information and postings. This includes all pictures, videos, comments, and posts. Inappropriate material may affect the perception of the member, their team, and Mustang Soccer. This can also be detrimental to an athlete’s future self and their employment options, whether in professional sports or other industries.
Any posts related to Mustang Soccer teams must be submitted to the Mustang Soccer marketing department to be posted on the Mustang social media platforms. Teams are not encouraged to run individual media platforms for their Mustang Soccer teams.
Examples of inappropriate and offensive behaviors in digital media communities, forums, and platforms may include but are not limited to the following:
Photos, videos, comments, songs, or posts showing the personal use or promotion of alcohol, drugs, and/or vaping/tobacco or that condone, promote, or mention any alcohol/drug-related activity, ie: holding cups, cans, shot glasses, or use of marijuana and/or drug paraphernalia.
Photos, videos, songs, lyrics, or comments of a sexual, graphic, explicit, and/or pornographic nature.
Content online that is unsportsmanlike, negative, foul, explicit, derogatory, demeaning, degrading, threatening, harassing, and/or abusive toward any other individual, race, religion, or entity, Ie: any derogatory comments regarding another institution, taunting aimed at another student-athlete, coach, or team, or derogatory comments against race and/or gender.
Content that depicts or encourages violent or illegal activities. For example, hazing, sexual harassment/assault, gambling, discrimination, fighting, vandalism, or academic dishonesty.
Information that is sensitive, personal, or proprietary to Mustang Soccer, is not public, ie: tentative or future team schedules, student-athlete injuries, eligibility status, or travel plans/ itineraries.
If a member’s profile and its contents are found to be inappropriate, by the above behaviors, he/she will be subject to the following penalties:
Written warning
A meeting with the Director of Coaching and Head Coach
Penalties as determined by Mustang Soccer, including but not limited to possible suspension or expulsion from his/her athletic team
Please keep the following recommendations in mind as you participate in digital media:
Set your security settings so that only your friends can view your profile.
Do not post your email, home address, telephone number(s), or other personal information as it could lead to unwanted attention, stalking, identity theft, etc.
Be aware of who you add as a “friend” to your platforms as some are looking to take advantage of or seek connection with athletes.
Consider how the above-listed behaviors can be reflected in all digital media platforms.
If ever in doubt about the appropriateness of the content of your digital media communities, forums, and platforms, it is most likely inappropriate. Please always attempt to positively represent yourself, your team, and Mustang Soccer.
By registering for Mustang Soccer, you affirm your understanding of the Mustang Soccer Social Media Policy and Guidelines for Athletes and will adhere to the policy and guidelines as a Mustang Soccer athlete. In addition, you affirm that failure to adhere to this policy and guidelines may result in consequences that include suspension or expulsion from your team. -
